My goal is to help you obtain the joy, happiness, self-esteem and success that you want – and that you deserve! As a Board Certified Psychiatrist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, I am able to help you evaluate the problems that prevent you from achieving these and help you tailor a treatment program to do so. I am in solo private practice and therefore I am able to tailor a treatment program specifically for you. Don’t become a nameless, faceless number as so often happens in large clinics and medical organizations.

I was raised in Miami, Florida. I graduated with Honors from Duke University and Vanderbilt University Medical School and completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University prior to moving to San Diego where I completed a Residency in Psychiatry at UCSD. I have special interests in the treatment of Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Mania, Self-Esteem Issues, Eating Disorders, ADD/ADHD and Work-Related Stress using short-term cognitive and dynamic psychotherapeutic techniques in addition to medication when indicated. I am a Consulting Psychiatrist for the NFL and from 2003 to 2017 for the San Diego Chargers. I am a Consulting Psychiatrist for Major League Baseball and since 2005 for the San Diego Padres. I am a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry at UCSD School of Medicine and Supervising Psychiatrist for the UCSD Free Clinic for the Homeless. Due to my expertise and experience, I am asked to teach at medical conferences across the United States, Canada, and Europe. I have lectured to over 20,000 physicians and therapists about the successful treatment of Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Psychopharmacology, and Behavioral Medicine. In 2007, I was honored by the United States Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress as Teacher of the Year, the only clinician ever so honored. I am the author of “Successful Psychopharmacology: Evidence-Based Treatment Solutions to Achieve Remission”. I enjoy a variety of sports, especially bike riding, running, and tennis, travel, going to the movies and theatre and being with my wife and daughter during my time away from the office.
